About Maria

I graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and minor in Law. Upon graduation, I worked in the field of leadership development alongside Organizational Psychologists for over 20 years. In 2009 I decided to follow my passion for the human spirit’s capacity for healing and wisdom, and began training as a Psychotherapist focusing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and working with anxiety and depression.

As a Psychotherapist I draw on many modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and spiritual/existential psychotherapy to help individuals identify limiting beliefs and outmoded coping mechanisms. In this way, my aim is to assist clients become more self-aware and understanding how their thoughts/emotions can be managed so that they can build richer, more rewarding lives.

I believe we all have coping abilities that have helped us to get to where we are now. Sometimes assistance is needed to develop these abilities so we can move forward in our lives joyfully. In a safe and confidential environment, I help clients share their story. I have worked with anxiety, depression, parenting issues, relationship issues, stress management, and helping individuals get back to gainful employment after a setback.

Cancellation Policy

When you book a session, your clinician reserves their time for you. In the event that you will be unable to keep an appointment, please notify your clinician at least 24 hours in advance, so that someone else may utilize the time. Similarly, when your clinician is unable to keep the appointment with you, they will give you more than a 24-hour notice and rebook to another date and time.

In the case whereby you are unable to provide 24-hour cancellation notice (e.g., you cancel an appointment on the day of the appointment [i.e., the same day] or do not show up for a scheduled appointment), unless for emergency reasons (e.g., medical or family emergencies), you will be charged the fee for your session and payment will be required at your next scheduled session.

Note: Employee Assistance Programs and other insurance-based programs will not reimburse you, the client, for missed appointment costs.
