At Church Wellesley Counselling and Psychotherapy, we are proud to offer no-fee, confidential, and culturally-sensitive mental health services through the Ontario Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Program. If you are a registered First Nations or recognized Inuit individual, you may be eligible to access therapy sessions at no cost, with no referral or prescription required.

What is NIHB?

The NIHB (Non-Insured Health Benefits) program, funded by Indigenous Services Canada, provides coverage for a range of health-related services -- including mental health counselling -- for eligible First Nations and Inuit people.

Under this program, you can access support for:

  • Anxiety, depression, and trauma

  • Cultural identity and healing

  • Grief and loss

  • Intergenerational trauma and residential school-related issues

  • Relationship and family concerns

  • Stress, burnout, and emotional regulation

Who is Eligible?

To be eligible, you must be a resident of Canada, and one of the following:

a First Nations person who is registered under the Indian Act

an Inuk recognized by an Inuit land claim organization as outlined in Inuit client eligibility for the NIHB program

a child less than 2 years old whose parent is an NIHB-eligible client
