What is Suicidal Ideation?

Suicidal ideation refers to thoughts of ending one’s life. These thoughts can range from vague feelings of wishing you didn’t exist, to more detailed plans or intent. While suicidal ideation is a serious mental health concern, it doesn't always mean someone will act on those thoughts, but it does mean support is needed.

Many people who experience suicidal thoughts are also dealing with:

  • Anxiety

  • Chronic pain or illness

  • Depression

  • Grief or loss

  • Isolation or relationship issues

  • Major life transitions

  • Trauma or PTSD
